The LuEsther T. Mertz Library. A repository of centuries of knowledge, The LuEsther T. Mertz Library is one of the world's largest and most important research libraries concerned with knowledge about the world of plants. Its diverse collections hold irreplaceable materials that date back to the 12th century, as well as electronic resources such as e-journals and searchable databases containing the latest results of research and discoveries in plant science and modern horticultural practice. The Flowering Amazon:
Margaret Mee Paintings from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

April 23 - July 25, 2004

More than 30 spectacular watercolor drawings and field sketches by Margaret Mee, renowned British artist and explorer, record the extraordinary floral beauty of the Amazon and include several now-extinct species. The works were originally exhibited in a private showing for His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

May 13th, 2004 has been designated Margaret Mee Day at the Garden. Three lectures and a special curator-led tour of the exhibition will be offered. For more information or to register, please call (718) 817 8747
