The Henry Allan Gleason Award acknowledges outstanding recent publications in the fields of plant taxonomy, plant ecology, and plant geography, all disciplines in which Dr. Gleason excelled himself.

This award is presented annually at the Awards banquet of The Botanical Society of America, which generally takes place in August of each year.

The Rupert Barneby Award
|
Each year The New York Botanical Garden invites applications for the Rupert Barneby Award to assist researchers to visit The New York Botanical Garden to study its rich collection of Leguminosae.

Orchid Research Fund
|
The Institute of Systematic Botany has funds available to support the study of orchid systematics in the Herbarium and Library of The New York Botanical Garden.

| Projects |

The following types of projects will be considered for funding:

Studies of the NYBG Herbarium collection of orchids resulting in the annotation of specimens |
|
|
Botanical expeditions yielding collections of orchids deposited in the Herbarium of NYBG |
|
|
Database projects based on the collection of the Herbarium of NYBG |
|
|
Purchase of books about orchids for the NYBG Library |
|
|
Visits from non-NYBG staff to study the NYBG orchid collection |

| Award Amount |
|
Maximum awards are $1,500 and preference is given to those studying orchids of the New World.
|
| Applications |
|
Applications for support should include a letter or an e-mail message in which the project and its relevance to the NYBG Herbarium collection of orchids and/or the NYBG Library is outlined.
